Tips: How to become a successful social media influencer

Image
How parents feel about “social media influencer” as a career and all you need to know about social media influencers. “You probably posted something and you’re surprised at the response you got? Probably a lot of likes and shares? Why not make money off it? Probably wondering how on earth is that possible? Well, you’ve come to the right place!” By Gloria Masia Remember when parents would shout “get off that phone” or “you’ve been at that phone the whole day”? Well yes, because I too was “an addict” hence I decided to write this blog.  Social media was considered a time waster, until people realized that you could actually make money. Parents are trying to steer their children away from pursuing lucrative 21st-century careers because are not well informed about them as well as understanding the opportunities. Three-quarters of parents believe that math and science subjects taught at school are more valuable than creative subjects and careers ...

Press release: “The Wing Republic” opens shop in Pretoria

Image
By: Gloria Masia The Wing Republic "TWR" has finally landed its second restaurant in Pretoria. After being voted “The Best Chicken Wings in Gauteng by Jacaranda FM, Tlhompho Mokoena who is the founder of TWR, knew from then that the restaurant was going places and soon would venture into franchise. It started as a pop-up shop in 2014 catering for events and that’s where he would often be asked how else people can get hold of the wings. In 2017, TWR finally opened a shop in Braamfontein. Being located in Braamfontein, a student dominant area, that also influenced the more inclusive pricing. “It took three years for TWR to finally open as a fully operational restaurant and we now have a total of 7 full time workers. From breakfast to wings served with sides, TWR always aims to please and fill the stomachs of their customers at an affordable price. We run spe...

Travel: My road trip to Venda and all you need to know when visiting Venda

Image
By: Gloria Masia There is something about the N1 route. Those “I’m going home” feelings that get you excited about the visit. Thinking about all the food that granny will feed you with. The trees on the sideways that looks so green and immediately you think to yourself, “I can never starve in this land”. The soil is so fertile where it produces mouth-watering, juicy fruits and vegetables. Food: Mashonzha is Mopani worms that are caught before they could transform into butterflies. It is one of their favourites. It can be cooked with tomato and onions or dried, best served with ‘vhuswa’ which is porridge. The other favourite of theirs is ‘delele’ which are greens that when cooked becomes slimy. My all-time favourite is ‘Thsidzimba’ which is a mixture of all different types of peanuts and beans cooked together, very healthy I tell you. You can eat this as breakfast, lunch or supper, it really doesn’t matter. Clothing: Do not be amazed when you bump into females who a...

Hotel Review: The Capital On The Park

Image
By: Gloria Masia Although I wouldn’t recommend using a taxi because the place is deeply rooted inside the city of Sandton, right in the suburb side. Luckily for me on the day I decided to use an Uber because I couldn’t afford to get lost at the time, that’s how excited I was to have an experience of my own. The drop off is exactly at the entrance of the hotel reception. Pretty charming. The Capital Hotel and Apartments just recently opened its new offering in Sandton. A modern cosmopolitan hotel to the richest square mile in Africa being around the corner from Sandton Convention Centre. Located 1.4 meters away from Sandton City, it sure does have a view. Especially during sunset, when the view is just phenomenal, the orange-red colour that the sun combined with the clouds form. The building is very tall, almost like a skyscraper with windows facing all in the right directions, making sure that when their guests glaze through the windows, they sure have an ama...
